SUNROOF JAMMED |
sunroof jammedHi there, I have a 1999 Saab 9-5. I just got it and the sunroof has jammed on me so it won't close, something of a problem. In any case I found the broken remnants of a plastic clip that sits in the rail. Unfortunately the dealer threw out the clip when I went down to get the sunroof closed (no help there). So I'm pretty sure the only reason why the thing can't close is the missing piece of plastic, does anyone know where I could obtain another one or am I out of luck? Below are links to pictures I took of both sides, the first one of the side where the clip is missing and the second of the side with the clip. Does the motor still work? If it does and it won't close did you try to close it manually from the front of the sunroof molding? Remove cover and use a screwdriver? Maybe the link to picture below might help identify the part. The motor works fine, I haven't tried to do it manually, since if the motor can't do it I doubt that I would be able to. At this point I just want to track down the plastic clip from the side without having to buy a whole new sunroof assembly. Or alternatively how to close the sunroof by opening it up. Can anyone point me to a guide or explain how that would be done. I assume that I would need to get the headliner down. From there I don't know. Attached is a link that should help you remove the head liner. When you get the head liner down the whole mechanism should be exposed. Let us know how it turns out. http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll130/Keh45/HeadLinerRemoval.jpg YOU CAN GET THE SUNROOF WIND DEFLECTOR SEPERATELY.USUALLY THAT IS WHAT BREAKS.THE CLIPS CANBE REMOVED AND REPLACED SEPERATELY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE DEFLECTOR. |
