OXYGEN SENSOR REPLACEMENT

LET ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM COOL DOWN BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE OXYGEN SENSOR. IF AND WHEN YOU RAISE YOUR CAR BE SURE TO SAFELY SECURE IT USING JACK STANDS OR BY LOCKING THE LIFT WHEN USING ONE BEFORE GOING UNDER THE CAR.

Removal of the upper heated oxygen sensor

NOTE: The following steps may vary depending on your vehicle year and model but it is basic information and is easy to understand.
1. Unplug the oxygen sensor and carefully place the wires to the side.
2. Remove the turbo heat shield by removing the clip.
3. Remove the oxygen sensor carefully using a wrench.
4. Apply a small amount of thread lube to the new oxygen sensor before installing.
5. Install the oxygen sensor and torque to 30 ft lbs.
6. Plug the oxygen sensor in and secure the wires so they are not touching any potential hot surface.
7. Re-install the turbo heat shield using the clip on the inside of the shield.

Removal of the lower heated oxygen sensor

NOTE: The following steps may vary depending on your vehicle year and model but it is basic information and is easy to understand.
1. Unplug the oxygen sensor and carefully place the wires to the side.
2. Raise the car. Convertible Only: Remove the front chassis support.
3. Remove the lower turbo pressure pipe.
4. Bend out the corner of the heat shield slightly.
5. Run the wires foward and remove the oxygen sensor.
6. Apply a small amount of thread lube to the new oxygen sensor before installing.
7. Install the oxygen sensor and torque to 30 ft lbs.
8. Check the condition of the wires and then bend back the corner of the heat shield.
9. Lift up the oxygen sensor wires, making sure it does not get pinched
10. Re-install the turbo pressure pipe and the Convertible chassis brace. Torque brace to 16 ft lbs.
11. Lower the car and plug in the oxygen sensor.
