RADIO REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

[99, 97X, 96, 95, 93 98-03, 93 03-07, 92X, 9000, 900 94-98, 900 79-94]

Warning! THE RADIO AND CD UNITS MAY CONTAIN CLASS 1 LASERS AND FIBER OPTICS. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL ELETRICAL WORK BE DONE BY A PROFFESIONAL. DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE LASER OR EYE DAMGE CAN OCCUR.

Older Radio Removal and installation. Radio codes will be needed.
STEP 1 These instructions are for radios similar to the newer 900 radios. To remove the radio unit you will need to insert the removal pins. Saab tool 847116.
STEP 2 Unplug the connectors and antenna cable.
STEP 3 Install in reverse order. You will have to enter the radio code to regain function.

Instructions for newer 93/95 radios before 2003. The tech 2 tool (programmer) will be needed.
STEP 1 Connect tech 2 tool and establish a connection with the audio system. Select "programming" in the main menu. Text "Marriage/Divorce" will be displayed, press enter. Select "Divorce" and press ok.
STEP 2 The radio should now go silent and the SID should display "Radio Code". Insert the two radio removal tools on the sides of the radio until you hear a click. Pull the unit out using the tools.
STEP 3 Unplug the connectors, antenna cable and external amp plug if equiped.
STEP 4 Install in reverse order. With the tech 2 programmer connected, select "programming" in the main menu. Now select "Marriage/Divorce". Select "Marriage" and press "OK". "Radio code" should disappear from the SID and the sound should return.

If you are installing an aftermarket radio, and using a wire harness to do so (do it, it saves time and hassle), there will be a blue wire jumper
connecting two pins on the harness. clip that. It is supposed to be for a power ant/amp jumper setting, but unfortunately it messes with the dash
dimming and black panel functions. clipping this wire fixes the issue.
