ONE AC VENT NOT BLOWING COLD |
Question: My 96 900 has a strange problem, the drivers side vent blows cold with the a/c on, the middle vent gets a little warmer and the passenger vent blows completely warm. I changed my cabin filter and it made no difference, also my fan speed controller is out and the fan stays on high, could the problems be related? Answer: Change the controller and then check the feon level Answer: Freon level looks good, 38 psi low side, this is my first saab, just got it from my mother, I am know ford systems really well but this system is different, I was thinking blend door/actuator but the temp difference between the vents is what puzzles me, where is the actuator motor on this car? and also, thanks for the help, from reading all the posts you seem to be an quite an expert on these cars. Answer: Once you take the glove box out to do the controller you can pop the vent duct out and look inside at the blend door and you will be able to see what is turning Answer: Thanks, I will try that next Answer: I will, also is the acc fan controller in the little black box on the console side of the kickpanel under the glovebox? or is that something else under there? Answer: Once you take the glovebox out toward the bottom of floor their is a black cover only 1 screw holds it on remove it the controller sits ther Answer: Thanks, thats what I thought. But after owning the car for a whole week, wy wife backed into it in the driveway, so I guess its going into the shop for a new fender and bumper cover before I can start on the climate control. Thanks again for all the help, I will keep you informed in the results of the vent problem when I can get to it Answer: Been away from the site for a while. still have the same a/c problem. I replaced the fan speed controller, that fixed my fan problem but my a/c still doesnt get cold enough. the freon pressure is good, compressor is running without cycling. seems to be sending outside air past the evaporator and into my vents. all my acc motors seem to be intact and working. even disconnected the hoses from the heater core. still no help. Any clue? Answer: Check the expansion valve pull a good vaccum on the system and then put 1.7 lbs of feon in car Answer: Just finished it and it's really cold from all vents. Thanks alot. I also discovered I have a bad low pressure gauge and may have been just low on R 134 all along. I am just happy it works now. its already in the 90's in texas so dropping the top just won't do it now. next is the timing belt. just ordered the locking tool kit. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again! |
