For the convert, the climate control panel has two modes. When the convertible top is closed and latched, the display is similar to a hard top in that it permits setting temperature. When the top is lowered, the display changes to a numbered/hi-lo system. You can run the A/C if you choose or set it on "ECON", which turns off the compressor … but it's essentially a manual system.
Normally, when you close the header latches, the system goes into "AUTO" mode. The system in my car does not revert to "AUTO" mode when the top is closed. The A/C works but must be adjusted manually. This indicates to me that there is a switch in the latch mechanism that controls this.
Am I correct in assuming that the switch in the latch is the cause? If so, can the switch be adjusted or must it be replaced? Finally, if it must be replaced, are there switches in both latches and should they both be replaced?
Thanks. |
