| If the water pump pulley is bad, do I have to change the whole thing, or can I just change the pulley? |

| I doubt you will see a bad pulley but I bet the pump is faulty. TW |

The pump was bad, then the belt apparently damaged the housing, then the mechanic welded the line (?) to stop a leak and then the head gasket blew. The mechanic offered to take it off our hands in exchange for the labor done, and part(s) used, because we couldn't afford the head gasket repairs. So sad...  |

| Does anybody make a replacment metal water pump pulley for the E38 to replace the failure prone plastic pulley? |
