Hello,

I own a Saab 900 2.3L. I have a problem with condensation or leak in my trunk. Rather often, I have either sitting water or just condensation in the compartment where my spare sits.

Here is what I know: The seal along the trunk is fine, I tested it by placing a cloth lining and driving around in the rain, the carpeting is also perfectly dry on the top. The carpeting is only wet on the side facing the spare. I checked the drain holes, they're not blocked, so the spare compartment doesn't fill up, but it somehow fills up if I close the drain holes.

Apparently the spare tire compartment was replaced by a previous owner, but the soldering job looks great, there I don't see any rust damage there.

Anyone know what my problem may be?

Definitely leaking at the tailight. I had the same problem. You may also have one of your tail lights go out or you may have to tap it...it's from the leak.

I just hit some truck leaking too. My tail light must have been hit by a stray grocery cart or something. There was a hairline fracture in the plastic, and the two inches of seal at the top of the tail light was compromised. You can visually trace the seal around the tail light, it's a dark line under the red plastic. If this line is interrupted, the seal is broken. I sealed over the top with clear sealant called amazing goop.

The 3 900's I own all had the same trunk leak. I found the drainage tube on the left side was not put through the rubber grommet to the outside but just drained into the trunk

I had the same problem with my '95 900 and found the tail light seals were dry rotted and letting water in.

Coincidentally, this is the only site I found that you can buy new replacement seals for them. It's an easy install and they're $9 each.
