Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 2003 93 Vector and I have two major problems. First one is my check engine light; I had a guy read it for me and it called for the secondary air intake, he said it might be a bad read so I looked on here and checked if there was water in the hose... There wasn't any water so he cleared it and away I went, my engine light is back on (about a week and a half later) I haven't got this new code yet but I am pretty sure it's the same thing.
Secondly, my car takes forever to start up, I just replaced the spark plugs and yet on my first boot in the morning it seems like it isn't going to make it. Could this be my fuel/oil filter? Also, I haven't been getting the greatest gas mileage and was wondering if any of these problems could be causing that.
Thank you |

| As you might already know, the secondary air check valve is probably the culprit for starters...It is not really that hard to take off. It only has two screws on the botttom and plastic detent ring on the rubber hose connecting to it...If you can get it off and look inside of it, it probably has alot of black gunk inside the bottom of it...I just took mine off today, cleaned it out with Q-tips and a little carb cleaner. I also blew in the air inlet side to see if the check valve was still working(and it was). I disconnected the negative terminal from the battery(about 3 hours) and the check engine light has disappeared. If the valve seems really bad inside, I would consider replacing it for about $80. I've replace one already and I'm keeping an eye on this one...I have 140k miles on my Vector, FYI... |

Thanks a lot, I've gotten the ck valve off and used some carbon cleaner however, I seem to be having an issue with finding the air pump. The best diagram I have been able to find is this one:
Do you guys have a better one? Or maybe able to guide me in the right direction... I've completely searched Google I assume it's connected to the ck valve but there's hardly any room too see. |

| Are you looking to replace your pump also? I would reinstall the check valve after you disconnect the negative cable and see if that clears your CEL problem first...Like I mentioned, my CEL disappeared and I have driven my car over 250 miles in the last 3 days with no light. I can hear the pump running on start up so it seems to be in good shape. |

| Well I am only going to clean out my air pump with carbon cleaner and judge by the tubes I have seen they're just caked with carbon. So I was just wondering where it was located while I am in the diy attitude. |
