Hi , I am Saab newbie here, its getting cold here in new jersey and I felt, driver side of the vent always blowing cold air, I read a couple of Forums in saabsite and decided to gather info for the blender door repair kit relative to my car. I noticed, the Blender Door Shaft is still intact, The Hvac Stop is still intact ( a minor crack though), Then I realized, hearing the motor running at times, as if it got stuck, I tried running the motor detached from the shaft, it runs okay. I tried moving the hvac stop manually with hand to see if its stuck, but it is moving freely without a problem. Now, I observed, whenever the motor is aligned with the notch as shown, and the Hvac stop at 12'o clock, its always trying to move to 11'o clock rather than 1'o clock, I tried running the stepper motor freely and almost 80-90 % of its roation is counter clockwise from the moment i switch on the car. I always get cold air in the driver vent. Please suggest, what could be the problem, do I have to replace the motor or its something the ecu or a relay is messed up ? I have removed the motor from the car manually setting the blend door to heat, since the motor always turns it to the cold side. Confused

Hi Everyone, I Finally fixed my motor without replacing it. I opened the motor plastic casing to see if there is any calibration screw or something, observed, the shaft of the motor has moved a bit in the stator(had some demarkation of the lubricant on the side with gear). Carefully, tapped the shaft till I could see the shaft on the other side of the motor. Now the motor stops and turns the other way as expected. I fixed it back to the car and Voila...I am getting heat on all side.. Job done without a peny... Done ACC Calibration again.. 0 errors..

Good advice and thanks for the info. I used this info and info from another SAAB forum to repair mine and clear all the codes.
I ordered just the stop arm from SAABSite for the left side which I found had broken. It worked but I did have a little trouble getting the new part on. I think most of my difficulty was because the manufacturing of the part from SAABSite was not very good. The hole with the keyways was not round but was uneven and rough. It looked like someone didn't use the right tool to drill it but instead bored it out with too small of a drill bit. I've got a little experience in a machine shop and so I was really surprised/disappointed at this workmanship. I had to clean it up with my tools.
After doing all this, I decided to replace the right side stop arm as well as a precaution. I went on Ebay and found and ordered the same type of part. The Ebay item price was a little better due to cheaper shipping which was actually A LOT faster getting to me so a win-win all ways around. I was very happy to find the part from Ebay was much higher quality. That is the one I would recommend if you were to buy. However, I also noticed that the motor shaft on my right side had slipped as you describe. At first I pushed it in too far because when I put the cover back on, it would stall... I found the other end of the shaft that pokes out the back was contacting the cover. I repositioned it again and had no further problems.

I just did the job yesterday with the new aluminum stop arm. As you say, it was a very tight fit.

I used a round file and tapered the edge of the hole in the arm ever so slightly and it went right onto the shaft. Try it. Much easier.
