1989 900 Turbo conv.--intermittent stalling

Post by eor » Fri Sep 27, 2013 1:37 am

Car sat some years. Got running OK, cleaned many corroded electrical connections, replaced many elements (fuel filter, bypass valve, temp sensor,ign.relay,oxy.sensor,knock sensor), tested elements of injection, turbo, ignition, elcd per Bentley. Nevertheless, Saab started a pattern of surprise stalls after +/- 200 m. Will run fine for days, then poof. If allowed to sit a minute, starts easy. Runs along a block or so, then repeat. Leave it sitting for the day, go retrieve. Runs happily home (so far only a couple of miles each time). Note: fuel press. tests not conclusive; Hall sensor may have been bum test; vacuum hoses all check; air mass meter test inconclusive. So there it is, and here I am... Thoughts, master advice,or...

Often times the Ignition coil will be fine at colder temps but once it heats up it my fail. Try bench testing it or swapping it out.
