CLUTCH CABLE ADJUSTMENT MANUAL CABLE

The manually adjustable cable will require one to adjust the cable periodically as the clutch disk wears. We have found that it is a little difficult to get the lock nut tightened as the position of the adjuster is somewhat awkward with the cable in the car. One needs to use 2 short open end wrenches, and to be sure to tighten the steel lock nut against the correct plastic nut. Play with it before installing it so you understand how to do the job in the car.

To adjust the clutch cable simply tighten the cable to remove the amount of freeplay in the clutch pedal inside the car. You don't want to overtighten the cable because you will wear the clutch disc prematurely. Leave about 1 inch of freeplay in the pedal when adjusting the freeplay out of the pedal. What we mean here is to adjust the pedal to where you will have to push it about one inch BEFORE the clutch pedal actually meats resistance ie.... beginning to push in the clutch. Keep in mind that 1 inch is just a approximation and this measurement will change according to wear of other components.

Adjusting the clutch cable from above is almost impossible. If you reach in through the hole for the steering arms, it becomes easy. I simply turned the wheels to the right-most stop and then getting the two wrenches in was no problem. Removing the driver's side tire/wheel would make it even easier.
