Remove the air cleaner and intake hose from the air cleaner and the throttle body.
1. Remove the air cleaner and intake hose from the air cleaner and the throttle body.
2. Remove the pressure off the belt tensioner, remove the tensioner and pry off the serpentine belt.
3. Remove the belt tensioners (2) bolts and remove the tensioner.
4. Fit in reverse order
Never did see the rational for removing the tensioner. If you are replacing the belt you are likely due to replace the tensioner pulley (bearing). One bolt, takes about 2-minutes. You can tighten the bolt when you relieve tension to install the belt.
