Fuel Mileage Test

[Saab 900, 9000, 92X, 93, 95, 97X]

Question: Can anyone tell me what my gas mileage (mpg) should be (or about) on my 1999 95se 2.3L Turbo? Thanks in advance

Answer: Sorry meant to say miles per gallon. I'm getting around 18.5. Seems a bit low for a four cyl.

Answer: I have a 2004 9-5 ARC 5 speed and I average 27-30 mostly back roads but I drive like an 80 year old most of the time, if you stay out of boost you can easily get 27+ with the LPT. driving hard I only get 22-24 so I would check your plugs, recent oil change? basic maintenance items help a lot, also tire pressure and condition can change gas mpg 10-fold

Answer: I have gotten 34 mpg on highway trips consistently. stop and go, city driving I get 18-22.

Answer: Here is the plain truth. For years I have driven Saab's and not once have I personally ever gotten killer fuel mileage. Now... let me explain.

I have always been a hammer down driver 0-60 but cruise at highway speeds. In the city I would always get around 18 mpg in about any Saab I had but heard stories of people getting 34 mpg etc.. so I decided to do a test and here are the results:

City:
18 MPG 0-60 hammer down
26 MPG 0-60 normal easy 0-60 driving

Highway:
24 mpg 80 MPH cruise set
34 mpg 60 MPH cruise set

Conclusion: Lead foot = worse fuel mileage period. This may seem obvious but if you drive with your foot to the floor all the time then you begin to thin that everyone drives that way when they do not. There are also other factors that make a difference like mountain areas verses flat lands. Try letting up you might be surprised! I was.....
