Starter Replacement 4 Cyl

STEP 1

Remove the battery cover and intake manifold cover.

STEP 2

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

STEP 3

Remove the upper retaining bolts on the starter (18mm).

STEP 4

Disconnect the starter cables.

STEP 5

Raise the car.

STEP 6

Cut the strap around the starter solenoid.

STEP 7

Remove the lower retaining nut from the starter.

STEP 8

You can now remove the starter.

STEP 9

Clean the mounting surfaces and connections to the starter.

STEP 10

Install the lower retaining nut to the starter.

STEP 11

Install a new strap to the starter solenoid.

STEP 12

Lower the car.

STEP 13

Clean the starter cables, apply some Vaseline to resist water and reconnect them.

STEP 14

Install the upper retaining bolts.

STEP 15

Reconnect the negative battery cable.

STEP 16

Install the battery cover and intake manifold cover.
