Engine will not warm up

[Saab 95]

Question: My car will not warm up - it has always been slow to warm up, but just today the engine temp gauge stayed on L and the air coming out of the heater vent was cold (this was the case even after an hour of driving). And now, my check engine light just came on as well. There is nothing on the control panel saying what's wrong. Any ideas?

Answer: You need to replace the thermostat and temp sensor part no#30577561 on the thermostat and 15393755 on temp sensor thanks. U can do it your self go to the faq section and it will tell u how to replace the thermostat and the temp sensor is located right beside the thermostat housing and it only unscrews

Answer: Here is the latest. I put the original t-stat back in. Car seemed ok til today. At the end of a 1/2 hour trip, the gauge was down at the cold end again. Get this, I took the resevoir cap off, the coolant was cold. The fans were running and the air was cold. The coolant in the rad is COLD. How is this happening? Is my water pump not circulating the coolant? The temp sensor for the fans is in the block somewhere I am guessing, and the block is hot, but no coolant is circulating.

Answer: You need to put a temp sensor on it too right below the thermostat

Answer: That was it! I replaced both the t-stat and the temp sensor. The gauge was steady right in the middle, just like it's supposed to be!
