BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR REPLACEMENT FRONT

[95]

Step 1 Saab Cars Recommends replacing both Disc at the same time for proper breaking. (not just one disc) Pad replacement is necessary when thickness of the pad is measured at less than 5 mm. Some 95 pads are fitted with a wear device that alerts the driver that the pads are below 3 mm.
Step 2 Jack up the car.
Step 3 Remove the brake hose clip and press the caliper piston in with pliers.
Step 4 Remove the two caliper bolts and hang the caliper on the Strut with coat hanger or tie wrap.
Step 5 Clean the inside of the caliper and remove the two locking screws that hold the disc on.
Step 6 Clean the new disc & hub from rust with brake cleaner.
Step 7 Refit the new disc and tighten the 2 securing screws to 3 ft-lb of torque and apply Loctite to the threads.
Step 8 Fit the Caliper and tighten the caliper to steering knuckle bolts to 86 ft-lb.
Step 9 Fit the new pads. The caliper pad holders should be torqued to 20 ft-lb's.
Step 10 Refit wheels and tighten to 81 ft-lb's of torque. Be sure to torque the wheels as this will cause the disc to warp if not tightened evenly.

Warning!Be sure to press the brakes immediately upon lowering the car. If not, you could end up in an accident or running into your garage wall!
