On Certain Saab 9-5 98 & 99 Models up to and including VIN # X3028229 water may leak on the front left-hand side of the cabin. The leak is caused by a hole at the reinforcing plate in the wheel housing made while welding. Please Note that this procedure is NOT TO BE DONE BY THE CUSTOMER! See your local Saab dealer to see if this bulletin applies to your vehicle!
Step 1 Remove the front left wheel. Step 2 Remove the screw securing the fender liner to the scuff plate, the top and rear plastic nuts. Step 3 Press in the rear section of the fender liner so that is comes away from the edge of the fender. Fold the fender liner forward to reveal the reinforcing plate welds. Step 4 Inspect the center weld on the bottom of the reinforcing plate. Step 5 Seal the hole with Thermostat 1 K-PUR T 216, part no. (16) 30 07 085. Step 6 Fit the fender liner by pressing it to the edge of the fender and screwing on the nuts and the screw. Step 7 Refit the front wheel. Step 8 Lift up the carpet and dry inside the car. Step 9 Hose down the car with normal water pressure over the windscreen and roof for about one minute. Step 10 Make sure no water leaks have occurred.
