Seat Heater Repairs
Hey Saabsite. I have got some really good info from you guys so I thought I would do a little contribution of my own. You can use however much of this description as you would like. This is a description and repair of repairing heated seats on a 1995 Saab 900 SE V6.
| STEP 1 | Remove the black leather clip from behind and underneath the seat. This will loosen the leather cover and allow access to the heated seat thermostat (It looks like a watch battery). Determine whether or not power is reaching the thermostat by setting your multimeter to volts mode. If you don't have power when the switch is on, you might have to check other things (Switch, power source, etc.)
|
| STEP 2 | Remove the black power seat cowl and buttons. (Memory buttons if needed as well. 3) Unclip the plastic black retaining clip(s) around the entire bottom edge of the leather seat cover. (This can be a challenge.) 4) Break the seat heating system into segments (testing areas) and test each segment for continuity. Hopefully you will find a segment that doesn't have continuity and you will be able to repair it. |
