Saab 93 Key Fob Repair
A special thanks to Fred Frigo. He is a frequent contributor to thesaabsite faqs pages. As always thanks for the info Fred!!!!!
A common problem with the 1999 Saab 93 is that the remote entry key fob can fail. Often, the small momentary tactile switches soldered onto the printed circuit board fail. Replacing the remote entry key fob and re-programming it may cost over $100. Replacing failed switches is another option.
To service the remote key entry fob, it is first necessary to remove the screw that holds the 2 rubber sections of the key fob together. Next, visually inspect the 3 switches to make sure they are intact. If a switch is broken, it should be carefully removed from the printed circuit board. Before servicing the unit, it is recommended to remove the circular battery on the underside of the circuit board. Once the broken switch is removed, the new switch can be soldered onto the circuit board as shown below.

One source for the replacement switch is Digi-Key (800)-344-4539. Cost = $1.10 (quantity of 1) Digi-Key part number: EG2525CT-ND E-Switch part number: 901AGQF160/TR
