COOLANT FLUSH

[93 03-07]

Warning!CAUTION: Radiator may be HOT and under PRESSURE

Step 1 To flush the radiator make sure the vehicle and the AC/ACC is turned off. Allow car to cool down and release any pressure my turning the radiator cap. But be careful to turn the cap just enough to release the pressure.
Step 2 To reach the radiator and the drain plug you may have to raise the car.
Step 3 Place a container under the radiator to catch the coolant.( Make sure its big enough to hold all of the drained coolant)
Step 4 Take out the radiator drain plug slowly until it is completely loose and the coolant will begin to drain. Note: to make the coolant flow slow and easy leave the radiator and reservoir cap on. To make it empty faster take off the caps to the radiator and reservoir. It will flow fast and catch you off guard if not prepared.
Step 5 Wipe up any spilled coolant.
Step 6 Once all of the coolant is drained from the radiator clean the threads on the radiator and drain plug.
Step 7 Install the drain plug and tighten until it becomes snug.
Step 8 Once the plug is in place, take off the radiator and reservoir caps.
Step 9 Fill the radiator with a mix of half coolant/water until it is filled slightly below the "COLD" mark on the reservoir.
Step 10 Screw the radiator cap on but leave the reservoir cap off.
Step 11 Check to see if there is any initial leaks from the drain plug or coolant system.
Step 12 Start and run the engine at varying engine speeds (Don't go above 3000 RPM) until the thermostat opens and the radiator fan turns on.
Step 13 Make sure there is no air bubbles coming from the reservoir once the thermostat opened and the radiator fan turned on. If there is air bubbles, continue to let it run until you don't see anymore.
Step 14 Check coolant level and add coolant if needed to about 15mm above the "COLD" mark. Screw the reservoir cap back on.
